Cat Missing For Months Returns Home On Owner’s Birthday

Our cats are members of our families. They make us feel so good at home, they share with us affection, entertain us sometimes and provide us opportunities to show love and care. When a beloved cat is lost she can break our hearts. That’s exactly what Gracie Kingsley lived the past five months. Her beloved cat Catniss went missing from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

“That was heartbreaking. You’re so used to having your cat around and all of a sudden she’s gone. And you don’t know what to think,” Gracie says.

Gracie rescued Catniss three years ago and Catniss was an important member if her family, the two were inseparable. After five months of searching her, Gracie almost gave up hope.

On Gracie’s birthday, she received a phone call from a woman who found her missing cat! Catniss was checked for a microchip and this is how the lady who found her identified her. Catniss had somehow traveled from Coeur d’Alene to Post Falls.

“We had been through so many false alarms because of the posters so it was cool to have one that actually meant something,” Gracie says. “It was the best birthday present ever.”

Gracie hopes people will make sure their cats are microchipped so if they will ever be lost, they can be found just like Catniss.
