Cat Wanted To Become A Volunteer At A Nursing Home!

Oreo was a stray cat when she kept showing up day after day outside a nursing home located in Cleveland, Ohio. The staff and residents at St. Augustine Health Ministries were happy to welcome her indoors.

Oreo loved the idea so she became a permanent volunteer, always eager to help out at the reception desk or snuggle up to the residents.

“She’s like the family here. She helps the residents, she helps the employees, and we just love her,” told Carmen Delgado, receptionist.

“It brings a lot of laughter, smiles, those feelings of home,” said Dana Carns, the director of advancement. Oreo encourages many of the residents to come out of their rooms to meet her, even though is not always easy for them to do so. She is happy to to make them happy with her sweet, purring disposition.
