Cats And Dogs Help Kids Practice Reading In Johnson County

Elementary school students in Franklin have a new set of reading tutors: cats and dogs. A partnership was launched between the Johnson County Animal Shelter and Webb Elementary School.

The kids can practice reading in front of an audience that is not going to judge them. This is helping the kids but it’s also an important help for the animals from the shelter who need to be socialized by having contact with humans. The animals are so cute, they are calm and love to listen the kids reading to them.

Kids this age have restrictions in ways they can volunteer at an animal shelter. This program is a good opportunity for them to interact with shelter animals and they’re also learning the importance of volunteering and giving back to the community.
