Kitten Rescued From Metro Tracks

A gray and black tabby kitten was discovered on the wrong side of the tracks at the Fort Totten Metro station in D.C.

The Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority’s emergency management team cut the power to the electrified third rail for the southbound Yellow and Green lines to be able to rescue the kitten.

Crews from WMATA and the Washington Humane Society-Washington Animal Rescue League managed to fee the kitten from that dangerous place. The kitten was named Totten and he appeared to be healthy.

“Thanks to the quick action of our Animal Control Officer and the WMATA Emergency Management Team, this kitten will have a new opportunity for a better life,” said David M. Smith, Chief Communications Officer for WHS/WARL.

Totten in now in the care of New York Avenue Adoption Center.
