Three lions rescued a 12 years old girl who was kidnapped by men who wanted to force her into marriage. The lions chased off her abductors and protected her until Ethiopian police came to rescue her.
The men had held the girl for a week in the remote south-west, repeatedly beating her, before the lions appeared and chased them away.
The lions guarded the girl for half a day until police and family found her!
“A young girl whimpering could be mistaken for the mewing sound from a lion cub, which in turn could explain why the lions didn’t eat her,” said Stuart Williams, a wildlife expert with the rural development ministry.
